Weatherly Borough Council has established

The Weatherly Area Historical Commission

Mission Statement

"It is the primary mission of the Weatherly Area Historical Commission to collect, preserve and exhibit our local history and memorabilia. The Commission will promote a sense of pride and accomplishment in our heritage among Weatherly Area Residents as well as to act as a community informational resource in matters related to local history."

For the accessing of information, collection, preservation and exhibition of Weatherly Area History and Memorabilia. We are looking for anything that has to do with the WEATHERLY AREA.

PICTURES, BUSINESS RECEIPTS, BOTTLES, LETTERS etc. Nothing is too new or too old.

 

ALLEN CANDY CO.

It was started by Andrew Horlacher in October, 1894. Moved business to Allentown, PA in 1897. Business failed in Allentown and Mr. Horlacher returned his business back to Weatherly in early 1899. Construction of building to house the business was June, 1899. Three story building was erected in 1906. Business was closed in May 1949.

 

   

FIRST NATIONAL BANK

It was located on 20, Carbon Street, Weatherly, PA and  organized on 12/03/1901. Building was built March, 1902. It was taken over by Hazleton National Bank on March 14, 1942.

 

   

LEHIGH VALLEY RAILROAD

Lehigh Valley Railroad passing thru town on July, 1923. Note all the tracks and station. Railroad built thru town in 1836 by Beaver Meadow Railroad Co. The same track running thru town is now one of the oldest in the country. It is 168 years old now.

 

   

EAST MAIN STREET
